Today I am remembering all those who have fought for freedom but especially my Dad (above)who fought overseas in World War 2.
For my Dad although there was hardship in fighting in a war there was also a sweet Dutch girl that became his wife after the war was over.In the photo above my Dad is in the centre,Mom and Dad on the right and on the left my sister and I with my parents(later they had two sons as well).My Dad was a gentle kind and caring man. Although my Dad passed away 14 years ago I am thankful for the memories I have of a loving father.
The older I get the more I appreciate the sacrifice these men and women made for our freedom.
On this Remembrance Day I hope we will all take time to remember them.
This is a photo of that sweet Dutch girl now and she has her own story to tell of growing up in an occupied country,losing a young brother and then leaving her family and homeland behind to come to a far away country to start a new life but that is a whole other story!
